A Declaration of Interdependence
Science and Philosophy as Alternative to Religion

Humans continue to solve mysteries through science, from figuring out that the Earth revolves around the sun to discovering evidence of water on mars.

In his book, A Declaration of Interdependence (of Science and Philosophy), Robert G. Edwards explains how this growing body of knowledge may offer an alternative to religious faith.

In A Declaration of interdependence, Edwards blends his own experiences with contemporary writings of science and philosophers to support the idea that humans, not gods and goddesses, are the key to their own happiness in life. He examines what he calls “irrational beliefs” and allegiances to religions that he believes, more frequently than not, foster conflict in the world.

Edwards challenges readers to question the value and meaning of religion in their lives. “As science continues to reveal more of the workings of our universe, religious beliefs will no longer be necessary for peaceful human existence. True revelation will come when we all understand the facts of our interdependence with all life in our universe,” predicts Edwards.

A Declaration of Interdependence presents an optimistic view of the future, and it brings hope and comfort to people who are sometimes persecuted because they choose not to believe in organized religion.
Edwards’ ideas often put him at odds with his own family, the nation and the world, and he encourages others to stand firm in their search for answers within themselves.

“I believe that mankind has far greater potential than achieved to date. That potential may be realized when all the vestiges of irrational religion have been discarded,” Edwards writes.

Edwards, a retired aerospace engineer, was an active member of the U.S. Military Industrial Complex for almost 50 years. His professional involvement with the tools of war and destruction led him to search for moral truths at an early age. Edwards drew from years of research on world philosophers, scientists and theologians to write this book.
