Can you spare the time to pen an occasional letter on behalf of Humanism and the things that Humanists stand for? The Humanists have started a Letter Writing Network and would like new members wherever you are. In fact the wider the spread the better.
The idea is to promote the things that we would like to achieve and to protest about the things that we oppose. Our weapon is the humble letter addressed to policy makers, people of influence and perpetrators of injustice. Just two examples. We have been trying to get the Department of Education and Science in the UK to rescind the requirement for Christian Assemblies in the UK in favour of a more broadly based moral education. We have also been protesting at the oppressive persecution by the authorities of people expressing Humanist views in Pakistan and India.
All members of our network receive a briefing on the issues, are given some suggestions on the points to make and the addresses of the people to write to. Letters need not be long or erudite, just sufficient to let the receiver know that you (and hopefully many more people) are concerned.
There is no obligation to write on every issue but we hope that members will respond wherever possible.
If you would like to add your name to the list of writers please send your e-mail and full postal address by e-mail to hendersonm@beeb.net or by post to:
